Native Valley Design is a company dedicated to restoring and renewing natural habitats through modern ecological design. We specialize in a design process called Residential Restoration where we treat each project as an opportunity to take a holistic approach to the land by reclaiming its natural features and functions while creating usable, family friendly, aesthetically pleasing spaces. Each design is site and client specific, offering custom details that meet both the landscape and it’s homeowner’s needs.

Katherine Novick,
Founder and Lead Designer
Katherine Novick founded Native Valley Landscape Design in 2015 in Napa Valley California. Her passion for garden design, ecologically crafted landscapes and a desire to work for herself was the driving inspiration for the business. Katherine has a background in land restoration work, ecological design, and project management. She has trained as a Bay-Friendly Qualified Design Professional, is certified as a Qualified Water Efficient Landscape Professional, and also has a certification in Permaculture Design. She is drawn to designing spaces for families to love for a lifetime.

Rachel Kohn Obut,
Design Assistant
Rachel Kohn Obut has been passionate about plants since her childhood. She has worked on and managed vegetable and flower farms for over 20 years. In 2013, she began studying permaculture design and landscape design, and dabbling in small edible landscape design projects. Since January 2022, Rachel has been working with Native Valley Landscape Design as a Design Assistant, and she has also been taking her own landscape design projects, with an emphasis on native and edible ecological landscape design under Little Moon Land Design, with mentorship from Katherine.
