FIELD TRIP: North Table Mountain

Every Spring I like to travel to one of the many treasured sites in California for excellent wildflower viewing. Last year I travelled north to Oroville, CA to visit the North Table Mountain Ecological Preserve. This unique landscape is an elevated basalt mesa with lava outcrops, vernal pools, and wildflowers as far as the eye can see. Often I wonder was California looked like before mass human settlement occurred- this feels close to that.
